DIGGING THE TRENCH
You can see here that the stove has been located about 80 feet from the house and a trench carefully dug to a depth of 3 to 4 feet. Generally a trench between 18 inches and 24 inches will suffice providing it’s below the frost line in your region.
This trench was hand dug to avoid water lines and electrical instalations, however a machine dug trench is just as good and not so hard on the back.
